How times flies when you are having fun, growing and family and driving a business forward. In July already although the weather would have us think differently!
So this month saw me quoted in Company magazine discussing Online identity issues and the like. Trouble is the journo credited another company with my amazing wisdom! Not sure their true MD is best pleased!. The article itself was talking about how a potential employer may view your profile online and then decide not to interview you etc. Facebook Myspace and all the other online communities are wide open to view by anyone.
I am spending more time within Linkedin when head-hunting and it provides a great platform for networking about Talent. This has always been but is growing in importance during these times of talent shortage!
Our very own Sarah Stimson is still seeing success and growth on PR JOB WATCH a group within facebook, and contrary to popular belief we have been approached by senior candidates not just junior candidates in this forum. Also companies like royal & Sun alliance, Electronic Arts and Firebox.com have put jobs on there. It is free and traffic (candidates) are coming. Without so much as a dime being spent to advertise!!
More and more Social Media is becoming part of the toolset used by recruiters to find the best talent. It is already happening but will happen more that online recommendations become as valid if not more valid than CV's. I am very happy when I go to Linkedin and find my candidate has 20 recommendations on his/her profile!
How many others are at the Sports Day tomorrow? It seems to be the timing around here. Should be fun if the weather gets better. But remember no more winning we are PC you know - all children should be proud to take part - rubbish - COME ON KIDS WIN
